My
Background
I’m a proud graduate of Kansas State University with a
B.S. in Math Education, an M.S. in Counseling and a doctorate
degree in Educational Administration. Working in the Manhattan-Ogden
public schools for thirty-three years, I began my career as a
junior high math teacher and counselor. For twenty-five years
I served as a Curriculum Director, Assistant Superintendent for
Personnel and Finance, and then as Superintendent for the 2000-2001
school year. Now that I am retired, I am ready to bring new ideas
to the legislature and to commit my time to working and fighting
for the citizens of Riley County and Kansas.
I’m also a long time local businessman providing wedding,
recital and graduation photography. I know what it means to meet
a payroll and how important it is to have a vibrant economy for
Manhattan and for the state of Kansas. Believing that economic
development is extremely important and that good strategic planning
is essential, I have recently been active on the City of Manhattan’s
Comprehensive Land Use Task Force.
I’ve been involved in numerous community organizations
over the years and I’m currently an active member of the
Rotary Club, the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, and I’m
serving on the boards of my church and of the Manhattan Emergency
Shelter.
